At the end of March, Concept Completion provided lighting design services and supplied lighting, truss and power distribution to the production company responsible for the Market Research Society’s annual conference. The main conference room was used for keynote speeches and then, with the quick removal of a central section, set and staging and the addition of the venue’s wall, the room was partitioned into two separate syndicate rooms for smaller sessions. This requirement meant that the lighting had to be designed not only to evenly light the stage as one, but also as two smaller stages. This meant two separate Litec QX30S trusses with two lighting systems that mirrored each other. The lighting comprised of an even stage wash from eight Selecon Acclaim fresnels. Ten ETC Source4 Junior zoom profiles were used to highlight the on-set logos and branding as well as the three different lectern positions. The two rooms were powered, cabled and controlled separately. With the removal of the wall and a quick addition of the set and stage piece and a lighting control link, the room became one again and ready for the keynote speech to the 500 delegate audience.
Concept Completion were recently engaged to provide services for an AXA Bancassurance event. The conference, held in Newcastle and Manchester, involved presentations and an awards dinner. The lighting design included uplighting the set with colour-matched LED fixtures. Texture was also added to the set by four bright, colour mixing moving lights which were also used to generate vibrant and dynamic looks to the whole room as employees came up to the stage to collect their awards. Front light was provided to light the entire stage evenly as it filled with award winners, with a specific highlight on the lectern. Lighting control came from the Avolites Pearl Tiger, a perfect desk choice for this job as the control position had to be kept discrete and compact.
A specific look for a break-out room was required to facilitate a change in emphasis around the room. Rather than providing a bulky ugly tripod, Concept Completion provided a simple, elegant and compact lighting stand solution with three lanterns to spot-light areas of the room controlled from a neat, compact dimmer. This was easy for the client to control as they wished, adding another dimension to an interactive presentation.
Concept Completion provided transport and logistics for the lighting and set elements to each venue, ensuring all the equipment reached the venues at the required time.
This month saw Concept Completion again providing lighting design and equipment supply for the Youth Sports Trust bi-annual conference at the Telford International Centre. Continuing our relationship with the Trust’s appointed production company, Concept Completion provided three truss framed projection surfaces, lanterns, LED fixtures, dimming and power distribution as well as lighting control from the recently purchased Avolites Pearl Tiger console.
This conference included contributions from Olympic medalist Jonathan Edwards among others as well as performances from a band, dancers, sixteen gymnasts and the solo percussionist Evelyn Glennie. The lighting design allowed each aspect of the conference to have a different look and feel. Being able to close down the stage lighting to just a single spot at times gave unique looks, helping to create an intimate atmosphere in a large space, bringing a greater sense of focus on the activity on stage at the time.
A town-wide power cut part way through the opening sequence was an unusual occurrence, however, due to the preparation and design of the power distribution system, the conference was back up and running very quickly once the power was reconnected.
Concept Completion are looking forward to supplying the next conference in the late part of 2010.
